View as seen from the access gate, May
As mentioned in the text above, the right part (Library/bedroom, storage and bedroom) is now divided into three independend rooms, although those walls can be taken out quite easily. The outer measurements from corner to corner of the house are 15,3 x 14,4 m. Further, some other small details have changed too.
The hall in the center of the house
The toilet and bidet are wall mounted models, so free of the ground
The sink and the detail of the little tiles
The shower/bath room is separated from the toilet

The bath
All floors are ceramic with a realistic wood look
The living is integrated with the kitchen
A large cupboard with massive Oak doors. The woodburner is easily capable to heat the living and kitchen.
The kitchen working top is made of exclusive Angolan black granite, just as most of the windowsills

All windows are from the highest quality available: traditional heavy duty metal bars, roll shutter, retractable mosquito shield, double insulated window frame with thermal bridge, three points lock windows with anti burglar double glass. Now that will keep the heat out and the warmth in!
All the outer walls of the house are made with these 28 cm thick hollow insulation bricks. From the inside to the outside: white plaster, 28cm inner wall, 3cm insulation foam (sprayed and thus very consitant), a 3cm air gap, another 28cm outer wall, heavy natural stones all hand collected in the environment for a natural look. The result is an extremely well insulation, which makes it easy to maintain a pleasant temperature in all Extremaduran seasons.
Life is quite comfortable on our land! A swimming pool makes all the difference in summer time. With this type of swimming pool, maintance is very easy. Of course the filter system is also powered by solar electricity.
A double access lockable gate with concrete floor. Any truck or big camper will pass easily. It is not even necessary to park inside.
The “energy house” has two compartments; one for the solar electricity and one for the warm water. There is some spare room to store small items.
The solar equipment does its job very well in this sunny climate. We did not had not one single moment without electricity. The house just functions as any other.
The blue deposit is a buffer water storage for direkt use. It gets filled automaticly from another (8000 litres) water deposit. Just behind it on the floor, the pressure pump is to be seen. The warm water is generated by the two warm water panels on the roof. In rare cases (only a few days a year) a back up could be desired with a gas heater (the orange bottle and the heater on the wall in the photo)
Close to the main water deposit, various fruit trees are growing. This would be the perfect location to grow vegatables and have a productive garden. It is all fenced.
A very handy “barn” is made out of a shipping container. It is placed on a solid concrete foundation and the added roof provides shade in order to protect it from heating up too much. Inner measures are: 260cm x 600cm. Is is a safe place to store garden equipment and other things.
We even kept an entire tractor in it!
One wouldn´t suspect it, but this water deposit contains nothing less than 8000 litres. It is filled directly from the water bore hole. From here the water runs by gravity to the house. another hoses lead to the fruit tree zone and to the place where the donkey lives.
This is where I used to spray my guitars. But it could get finished in a little guest room or other purposes.
A bed would fit in here
Half built. It could get finished in any structure desired. Even the extra bricks are present to finish it. A local builder would love to assist. Actual size: 600 x 300 cm approx.
Just in case:. A potent electric generator of 13 KVA. A Lamborgini motor, 1.500 rpm, diesel.
The barn where now the donkey lives. Size about 600 x 400 cm.
The inner separation wall could be removed. For animals it is nice to have a shady place out of the rain. Although it could also serve another purpose.
May I present Año? That the donkey who was born on the 28th of August, 2008, exactly on the place we later built his shred. He is very friendly and a big help with maintaining the grass. He needs very little care, although he loves some hughs once in a while! He comes with the package if you´d appreciate that. However, if you are not too keen on having a donkey, we´ll look for another place where he can live, so no worries.
A walk uphill from the house shows how beautiful and virgen “our” protected valley is. The house itself can´t be seen, but is to be find in the distance, middle, behind the Oak trees.
The fince provides loads of privacy and quiteness. There are no direct neighbors. The coordinates are: N 39º11.3423´ W 006º01.0933´
The position of the finca to the village. It is at about 4 kilometres.
